Resident Evil: Degeneration Movie Review

At first I was a bit skeptical about the movie since its the first offical Resident Evil movie that came out made purely with CG. Fans os resident evil will appreciate the inclusion of Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil 4 Video game. I think they did it all CG to keep the character's appearance the same.

They do a really good job at introducing people to the concept of what Resident Evil is all about, Biological weapons that turn people into zombies. At first I thought the movie was going to end rather quickly after the airport scene is done, but they did such a good job at expanding it, and the plot twist is so good. It certaintly keeps you entertained about what is going to happen next without going into boringly long detail. Some of the camera work that they do is really good, they switch to first person perspective while going around corners and what not, which adds a bit to the fear tension of the viewer.

I think Leon S. Kennedy has the potential of being the very next 007 assuming people see it fit that way and profits reek in from making these movies. He almost kind of has a bond-girl in the movie.

Good points

Resident Evil fans will love it, they kept the same theme even though it was all CG
Camera work, 1st person view, the bullet effects, flash backs, oh done so well.
Plot and development, pretty damn good for a video game movie.
CG effects keep the appearence of characters the same
Irony moments in the movie
Really good introduction for non-resident evil fans.

Bad Points

Some parts they drag out the details a bit too much, but this isn't too bad.
Between the airport and the lab was dragged quite a lot.
A few corny lines here and there
I feel they could have added more "Oh fuck" action, rather than the mass of zombies at the airport and the boss in the lab. It misses out on what the other 3 Resident Evil movies had. The insane swarms that they somehow make out of them. Sure airport has like one or two, but even then.
WHERE IS MILLA JOVOVICH!? she was such a good character in the other movies :3

I think they are on to a good idea here, if they develop Leon S. Kennedy more this could turn into a really good franchise!
